I love how Amelia quickly endears herself to the reader through her stories that evoke nostalgia – of good things that happened to us; of good people that ‘growed’ us; of wonderful times long gone and which society and family tradition cannot revive.
I love the history of things that you incorporate into your book, where advertently or inadvertently, you give people in abusive situations today, a glimmer of hope by providing recourse to action e.g. Protection orders or process for divorce.
There is a nice balance between the horrific abuse and the beauty and strength of character that is emerging in Amelia.
Let’s hope there is a sequel! 😍
